Family Fun on the Costa Blanca – Fun for All Ages

Can you and the kids handle your nerves on a keel trip? Set sail from Altea, Moraira or Denia to escape all thoughts of fast food, telly & city living. Would your children be surprised to learn that every year the sun leaves Spain for England and Europe? There are still some people from there who wait 25 hours (for direct flights) or drive that long each summer so they can buy the freshest sausages and pork pies to enjoy back in their own country. Extra resources!

Why not pack a pair of binoculars for bird watching? There are plenty of species to be spotted in the rice fields near the southern coast. Salt lakes just south of Alicante provide excellent conditions for migratory waders while wetlands to the south of Valencia sport abundant waterfowl and delights like red-crested pochard.

Children will enjoy the wildlife watching that’s done in one’s own garden as well. Unfortunately, you won’t get many opportunities to visit a nature reserve like Cabo De Las Huertas – but expectations have to be managed. There are no hummingbirds in paradise any more and it’s only one of a few places where Spain can boast a true coastal marshland.

A teenager in Denia can go from windsurfing, dinghy sailing and underwater football to wall climbing in 24 hours. They will get treble their money’s worth while on holiday!RouterModule Did you know that from Denia to Valencia there is only an hour and twenty minutes by car? This is possible because of the new Autopystda local speed limit of 120 km/ h ( 74 mph), which makes it very convenient to those with appointments in Alicante or Elche. What will amaze your children even more is when they see the seamring information board in English. Why do you need to race on your Holidays?

Why not prepare a BBQ in the olive groves surrounded by open countryside and shaded by mulberry trees next time you come here? Maybe you can take an exploration trip up into mountains beyond Javea. There’s tiny village with several delicious little cottage industries located along one road, near a mountain stream or by an olive press station. Another suggestion is to go horseback riding among pine forests on rear-facing seats-basically taking your children, partner / parents or friends and family where you want to be but can not do so riding a motorcycle.

Either way, make sure that notebooks, digital cassettes (you’ll need them) and any other teaching aids are packed away at the end of each lesson; as with many a foreign teacher there is nothing worse than having him come back into school after half term and find the whole place in uproar!
